Today’s Japanese Style Cooking is called Simmering Tofu or 湯豆腐 in Japanese. This is a very easy to make dish and very healthy for the body and great for cold winter nights. I hope that you enjoy this recipe. Let’s see what we need to make our Simmering Tofu recipe.
Ingredients
2 cakes silken tofu
½ naganegi onion
10g dried bonite flakes
8 cups water
pinch of salt
soy sauce
Instructions
Briefly wipe the konbu kelp with a dry cloth. Place the konbu kelp in a pot, and fill the pot with water, let stand for about 30 min.
Cut the tofu each cake into 6-8 pieces.
Place the pot with the konbu kelp over heat. Add the pinch of the salt and the tofu gently before the water in the pan comes to the boil.
When the tofu is warmed, scoop it out the pot and place in individual bowls, pour on some soy sauce and garnish with the chopped naganegi onion, dried bonite flakes and other condiments.

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and now living in Osaka, Japan. I have been in Japan for about 12 yrs now and loving every single moment of my life here in a beautiful country. I’m a English teacher here in Japan and on spare I'm a Food blogger, and gamer. I have been cooking for the pass 15 years, but still not at the level that I want to be. In the pass 4 – 5 years wanting to learn more about Japanese food and how they prepared them as an art form instead of something there for you to eat.
