Kinira Sushi (黄にら寿司) Good Afternoon Everyone, Hows is everyone week going so far. I’m looking forward to the weekend and I hope you are too, but a rainy weekend. I wanted to share this today, cause we don’t have this in our Prefecture(Osaka). We were watching this show on TV last night and they were featuring this sushi called Kinira Sushi only found in Okayama Prefecture. Kinira is a yellow leek vegetable which tastes like a sweet type of garlic. We don’t have this here in Osaka, and while watching the show this vegetable is alot cheaper then buying regular leek. The cost was about 98 yen for a bunch. People in Okayama also add this vegetable in ramen, spaghetti, and many other dishes where you would find regular leek in. We will see if we can find some of this vegetable in our supermarkets here in Osaka. If we can’t, I guess we will have to make a trip up to Okayama to taste this first hand. If you have tasted Kinira, please leave a comment below and tell me how it tasted for you. I would really like to know more about the vegetable. Well, I’m off to ukulele practice and I will see you all tomorrow.
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and now living in Osaka, Japan. I have been in Japan for about 12 yrs now and loving every single moment of my life here in a beautiful country. I’m a English teacher here in Japan and on spare I'm a Food blogger, and gamer. I have been cooking for the pass 15 years, but still not at the level that I want to be. In the pass 4 – 5 years wanting to learn more about Japanese food and how they prepared them as an art form instead of something there for you to eat.
