I have to admit that I am not so into Nato, but I think it’s good that you mixed it up with one of my favorite dishes which is pizza. I’m sure it would be a lot tastier that way.
Looks yummy. What is natto made of?
interesting topping Naoko!
We love natto so maybe we’ll like this pizza if we get to try it. 🙂
Makoy – Natto is made of soy bean (fermented soy beans)
This pizza is amazing I would add some cheese and some ketchup to it, yamyy.
Thank you for this delicious pizza receipt, I have cooked it is astonishing. I love it.
Tasty stuff, but I am wondering for how long it should be cooked, and is it possible to make it in a microwave.
Could somebody help me find pizza sauce, I went to the market but I couldn’t find, maybe there is a recipe to prepare it at home.
I have heard that people from west Japan do not eat Natto, and that Natto is very good against osteoporosis. So I guess Natto pizza is not only tasty but good for health.
I agree with Stacy that natto is healthy, while pizza is not, in Italy it was even called food for poor people.
Duke, even if pizza is not a healthy food look at it, isn’t it amazing, don’t you wanna grab a piece of it?
To be frank with you I can’t understand how it is possible to add fermented soybeans into a pizza, I think that it is awful.
How can you eat that, it looks awful, can’t you have some indigestion after consuming natto pizza?
Thank you for this recipe I’ll try making this pizza sometimes, hope it will taste fine.
I can’t understand how it is possible to add soybeans into a pizza, I know that they are good for health but still they are not compatible with dough.
I made a natto pizza a few days ago, as a result my husband asked me not to cook anything in my life, so I think that this recipe is great.
Hmmm, combining Natoo and Pizza that must be interesting, only I didn’t see any meat in it, why?
I remember that a few years ago in London a pizza house started serving Natto pizza, at the beginning there was a demand cause it was a new product, but unfortunately the customers were unsatisfied, so the company went bankrupt.

hmmm, Natto Pizza is kind of strange it’s healthy for your digestive system but it tastes like ….. I think that it can be eaten only with a lot of ketchup.
Unbelievable, you placed natto into pizza, I guess if you froze that pizza to prepare it latter you’ll need much souse.
I also tried to make this pizza, and my husband just told me one phrase “Never do anything like that again”, I don’t know why, cause I liked it.
I think this is an unique recipe, I googled for an hour and couldn’t find any similar cuisines.
At a restaurant I perused the menu, to find nothing I liked until I saw the word “pizza” in katakana. I did not pay attention to what kind of pizza and — in those days — could not read the Japanese characters anyway. Besides, I thought, how could anyone ruin pizza? and they gave me natto pizza
Funky, gooey, snotty, even gym sock-y—all are words that have been aimed at natto, Japan’s favorite fermented phenomenon. Love it or hate it, there’s no question that natto, a type of fermented soybeans, provokes strong responses. Devotees swear by its vitamin-packed sliminess, skeptics don’t even want to be in the same room with the stuff.
I tried to prepare natto pizza at home using the recipe but unfortunately nothing comestible came out.
When I was in Japan on business a long, long time ago (albeit not in a galaxy far away), I was presented some natto for breakfast by friends. I ate it. Those dear friends, made me eat it with a spoon without dressing of any kind and that’s it. It is more usually consumed with a bowl of rice, some mustard and soy and whatever other condiments you desire.
Natto contains a lot of vitamin K, which stimulates the cells that make bones. Vitamin K is one of the special nutritional elements of natto, and fermenting soybeans with natto bacteria produces more vitamin K. Soy products like natto contain high levels of isoflavone, which helps prevent deterioration in bone density.
Natto is a traditional Japanese foodstuff made of fermented soybeans. Those who manage to get past its notoriously unpleasant odor and sticky consistency often come to enjoy its earthy, nutty taste.
Is there any other types of pizza in Japan except natto, I simply don’t like it.
I heard that you can also add the following ingredients to natto pizza: Teriyaki sauce, kimchi, fermented soybeans, sesame seeds, shredded red pepper, mayonnaise, onion small.

Great to see you promoting natto, Naoko. I think it’s one of Japan’s best and most misunderstood foods. I eat it every day for breakfast. It’s cheap, easy, and delicious. When it’s cooked into foods, like you’ve done, it really takes the taste to a whole new level, particularly when combined with seaweed and maybe some soy sauce.
