Hello Everyone,  How’s your week going so far for you?  Well, this weekend we are going to our first Food Festival and it’s in Nara Prefecture.  The Next Prefecture north of where are living and I think it well be in Nara Park.  The last time I was there, was when I was in elementary school.  lol  I have never been to one, so I hope that it is great and a lot of food to taste there.  The question of the day is “Have you been to a Food Festival or Food Event before?” and “How was it?

Diet Recipe#13 Gratin with Potato and Komatsuna じゃがいもと小松菜のグラタン

Here on Cooking Japanese Style we have another Japanese Diet Recipe called Gratin with Potato and Komatsuna or じゃがいもと小松菜のグラタン in Japanese. This dish is like other gratin that you may have tasted but a little healthier and without so much calories. It doesn’t take long to make too. Enjoy and Keep on Cooking.
Ingredients
  • ½ Onion
  • 200g Komatsuna
  • 1 Potato
  • 2 tsp. Olive Oil
  • 300 cc Water
  • 2 tsp. Granules Soup Stock
  • 200cc Milk
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½tsp Pepper
  • 2 tbsp. Potato Starch
  • 2 tbsp. Water
  • 40g Shred Cheese
  • ½ tsp. Dried Parsley

Instructions
  1. Cut the onion into thinly slice, Komatsuna into 3㎝ pieces. Peel the potato and cut into bite-size pieces.
  2. Heat the olive oil into a pan, add the onion and fry, add the potato and Komatsuna. Add the water and granules soup stock and simmer for about 10 minute with lid.
  3. Add the milk and simmer briefly, seasoning with salt and pepper, and add the potato starch dissolved in the water to thicken the sauce. Transfer it to gratin dish, sprinkle the shred cheese and bake in the oven for 5 minute(220℃). Sprinkle the dried parsley.
